Travemünde as an excursion destinationThe Travemünde district of Lübeck is located directly on the estuary of the Trave in the Bay of Lübeck. The extended sandy beach, the historical facades and the port, in which countless yachts weigh anchor in the sailing season, give the place its characteristic Baltic Sea flair. The Travemünder Maritim-Hochhaus is the highest building on the German coast of the Baltic Sea and its beacon is one of the highest in Europe. From the Strandhotel LUV in Niendorf, you can also reach Travemünde comfortably by foot or by bicycle. You can choose between a walk above the Brodtener Steilufer (a strip of coastline) and a more demanding route along the surf. The strip of coast between the two Baltic Sea spas is around four kilometres long.
